Bilberry is any of several primarily Eurasian species of low-growing shrubs in the genus Vaccinium (family Ericaceae), bearing edible, nearly black berries. The species most often referred to is Vaccinium myrtillus L., but there are several other closely related species.
Bilberries are found in very acidic, nutrient-poor soils throughout the temperate and subarctic regions of the world.

The powder of Bilberry is mixed with other excipients in a high shear mixer and the wet mass is fed into a single screw or a twin screw extruder, the wet extrudates are then fed in wet condition into a spheronizer. The spheronization time varies per product but in approximately 5 minutes the extrudates are converted into spherical round spheres which are then further dried in a fluid bed dryer then further coated in a bottom spray fluid bed coater when needed. A vacuum tray dryer is also used when the product demands sensitive drying.
