Capsicum is a genus of flowering plants in the nightshade family Solanaceae. Its species are native to the Americas.
Capsaicin is used as an analgesic to relieve pain. It may be applied in cream form for the temporary relief of minor aches and pains of muscles and joints associated with arthritis, backache, strains, and sprains.
It is also used to reduce the symptoms of peripheral neuropathy such as post-herpetic neuralgia caused by shingles.

The powder of Capsicum is mixed with other excipients in a high shear mixer and the wet mass is fed into a single screw or a twin-screw extruder, the wet extrudates are then fed in wet condition into a spheronizer. The spheronization time varies per product but in approximately 5 minutes the extrudates are converted into spherical round spheres which are then further dried in a fluid bed dryer then further coated in a bottom spray fluid bed coater when needed. A vacuum tray dryer is also used when the product demands sensitive drying.
