Cranberries are a group of evergreen dwarf shrubs or trailing vines in the subgenus Oxycoccus of the genus Vaccinium.
Cranberry shrubs are up to 2 metres long and 5 to 20 centimetres in height; they have slender, wiry stems that are not thickly woody and have small evergreen leaves. The fruit is a deep red berry that is larger than the leaves of the plant.

The powder of Cranberry is mixed with other excipients in a high shear mixer and the wet mass is fed into a single screw or a twin screw extruder, the wet extrudates are then fed in wet condition into a spheronizer. The spheronization time varies per product but in approximately 5 minutes the extrudates are converted into spherical round spheres which are then further dried in a fluid bed dryer then further coated in a bottom spray fluid bed coater when needed. A vacuum tray dryer is also used when the product demands sensitive drying.
